Homecare Explained

Home care explained

What is domiciliary care?

The term domiciliary care, or ‘home care’, is defined in the UK as health care or supportive care provided in the patient’s home by healthcare professionals or by family or friends. Home care aims to make it possible for people to remain at home rather than use residential, long-term, or institutional-based nursing care. Those that buy home care do so because they need assistance with a range of medical requirements, such as:

  • Personal care
  • Medication reminders and pressure area care
  • Dressings and bandages

Home care can also serve to meet a range of practical, lifestyle needs, such as:

  • Meal preparation
  • Medication reminders
  • Laundry
  • Light housekeeping
  • Errands
  • Shopping
  • Transportation
  • Companionship

Martlets Care can provide expert, tailored care to help meet these needs as well as day-to-day requirements including bathing, dressing, transferring, eating, walking and any incontinence needs. We serve Brighton, Hove, and surrounding areas.

Care can be arranged for a few days or for several years depending on your individual circumstances.
