High praise for Hove care provider from government regulator

High praise for Hove care provider from government regulator

Hove, 8 March 2017 – Martlets Care, the social enterprise side of the Martlets Group that provides care in the home and supported living, has received complimentary feedback in a report from the government regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC passed the Hove-based care provider on all aspects of its service and its statement was fulsome in its praise of the high level of care and professionalism experienced by the eighty disabled, elderly or vulnerable people who use the service.

The Martlets Care service was rated as ‘good’ on all five aspects of the inspection: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. The CQC’s findings followed a two-day inspection. The inspectors observed how people were being cared for and talked with people who use the service, as well as family members and Martlets Care staff.

The CQC Report said: ‘A relative told us: "The carers do things above and beyond their expected tasks. They change my mum but also put things in the washing machine to save me a job. That is consideration.”’

The management team also came in for high praise. The report said they ‘provided good leadership and support to the care staff. One member of staff told us: "We are well supported by the HR team and manager. They make sure we take time to care and allow time to care."’

Martlets Group CEO Imelda Glackin said: "I’d like to congratulate the team here on this excellent report. It is very true to say that showing respect and concern for our staff results in a better service for those we look after, so ensuring that our team is well supported and well trained is a priority for me."
