Frequently asked questions

If you are considering a role with Martlets Care, the answers to the questions below might help. If you would like to have an informal chat about our open vacancies, please contact us by calling 01273 829943.

Will I be asked to work weekends?

We ask all our staff to take a weekend shift every other weekend. Our shifts can start from 7am and finish at 2pm. Or you can do an evening shift which is between 5-10pm. We take your availability and build rounds from there.

What sort of work will I be doing?

Our care packages are bespoke to all of our clients, however you can expect to be providing anything from personal care to companionship.

Do I need experience?

No. Many of our carers have come from other careers before starting with Martlets Care. We will fully train you and give you a seven-day induction.

Will I be supported to complete qualifications?

Yes, when you work with Martlets Care we will support you to study. You can gain things such as a care certificate or diplomas in health and social care if you wish to.

Do I have to be able to drive?

No, we do not require all our carers to be able to drive, although this is a bonus. As we are local and an environmentally friendly company, we are happy for our carers to use public transport or walk, wheel or cycle between clients.

Do I need a DBS?

Yes, all our carers need a DBS. We pay for this to be undertaken when you start working with us.

How much will I get paid?

Our pay rates are competitive and above the local living wage. Pay starts at £11.50 per hour and is enhanced for evening and weekend work.

Do we get paid for travel?

Yes, we pay you for the time you spend travelling and reimburse your mileage too at the rate of 45p per mile.
